Alarm system gone & car won't start
Discussion
Hi,
I have the following problem since today. After having had the battery disconnected for few days I have connected it again and wanted to start the car. But using the sensor the car alarm system wouldn't react. Also my second sensor didn't work, nothing happened. Then I entered the car and tried to start the car, but the fuel pump doesn't work. Seems like the immobilzer is active and not letting the fuel pump start. But since the alarm system is not working, can this just die? Or is it possible that the ECU has gone? Would this also let the alarm system die? Shouldn't the alarm go off when the battery is connected and I try to start the car...?

Oh great..
I am literally about to do just the same. I've had the battery out for a few days and have just got my new one ready to go in tomorrow night..
Any steps I can take to prevent this happening?
Let me know how you get on and I'll let you know what happens tomorrow!
Fingers crossed!

If its a meta alarm its not unusual for it to get confused when the battery is reconnected. Disconnect the earth side of the battery, leave off for 5 secs then reconnect. Immediately press the plipper. This should reset the alarm and everything should then work as normal.
Worth a try as it only takes a few secs.

Hi,
If it helps it is a 1995 Chimaera 500, what alarm system it has I don't know. Will try what you all suggested and let you know....
Cheers

The Meta alarm should sound when the battery is disconnected.
If not it could be either the backup battery in the siren is dead or if you have a new type siren fitted the siren isolator switch is turned off.
If it’s a backup battery problem you need a new siren.

Exactly as described to me by Carl Baker. It worked of course.
If you are still having problems your best bet is to call Karl Baker

He probably knows more about TVR alarms than anyone

Agreed. One way or the other, he will get you back on the road as fast as anyone can. And usually at a more reasonable price. He will also visit; for a call out fee of course (but again reasonable in my experience).http://www.tvruk.tv/www.tvruk.tv/index.html

Hi there,
I have now tried the immobilizer fob, again no change. The one I have is not the one at the steering column that is actuated with this pin but the one inside the dash board accessible from the foot rest of the passenger. Nothing at all happens.
Actually there is no voltage measureable at the the immobilizer fob. How can this be explained? Is it a sign that the ECU is gone? With the ECU gone, is then alarm and central locking gone also...?

Had a lock at what I believe is the alarm system...."Portman I-way Alarm System"
One box showed the name "Trackpro", another one "italamec centralina bloccaprota"....
"Italamec centralina bloccaporte" - is the aftermarket central locking relay TVR used. One box showed the name "Trackpro", another one "italamec centralina bloccaprota"....
"Trackpro" - I would guess is a tracker.
"Portman I-way Alarm System" - never heard of them.
If I lived where you do I would get the alarm/tracker ripped out and replaced by one serviced locally and start again.
