unknown gearbox

Does anybody know from what (Ford) car this gearbox is? It fits to a Ford 289 engine bellhousing.

Is it an internal linkage Box Klaus? and is that the shift remote control on the top of the casing? I have a book with lots of gearbox diagrams covering all 3 and 4 speed transmissions at home but if it isn't an external linkage box I am struggling. have you got a tailshaft for it or is that it in its entirity?

Is it a 3 or 4 speed? it could be a derivative of an early T85 but an american ford forum will likely be your best bet?

I am guessing it has come from an econoline van with such a short / non existant extension housing??
