I have a mk2.5 and my passenger side latch creaks like mad whenever i go over a bump or non flat piece of road and its starting to get tiresome irked

The latch itself still has a working locking button wheras the otherside does not, anyone got a solution? smile

Not got this on mine. Sure it's the latch and not the roof frame? Mine creaks over bumps.

Is the latch on too tight? Try loosening it if it is.. or is it too loose, and wiggling about? Maybe try putting some grease on the spring as that could be what is creaking?

It does sound to me like it's either too tight or too loose...

As above, I would adjust the latch, try loosening it a touch or tightening it if its already loose

I shall have a look at loosening it. In my knowledge it seems to be a tight creak not a wobble as if loose yes

Im also getting a creaking coming from the seatbelt rubbing on the leather of my seat irked

Can you tell from my hatred of little noises that i work in engineering? hehe

It might also need the other latch tightening a touch to take some of the stress off the creaking latch.

How do you adjust the latches?

Fold the top open, open the latch, pop open the plastic cover (you'll see what I mean), adjust the adjustment nut with a spanner (I think it's 10mm). Simple as smile

Glad you folks have already bantered this one.

Put the hard top on this week, it's rattling in a concerning manner, half suspect that a good bump at the right speed might result in takeoff!

So I had better look at my latches.

I found an easier way of stopping it creaking - put the roof down driving
