budget probably 25K maybe alittle more. looking to buy in the new year.

must be practical, mpg not an issue as it will only 5-8K ayear.

narrowed it down to the following

E60 M5 - like the drive, not the gearbox.
W211 E63 AMG - drove a E55 AMG, that was lovely. New shape E63 is still expensive.
RS6 V10. not driven it. Not sure how it stacks up against the above two. still above budget.
XFR - still above budget. not driven one. I do like jags though.. doesn't look as practical as the above.

Comments on above, i'm leaning towards the E63 AMG. Wifey will be driving 95% of the time with the kids.

For some reason, i keep thinking the RS6 would be a good choice not sure though.

cheers

You'll be picking up some BIG depreciation and/or running costs just to move the kids around!

yep! in all honesty, i would like something nice. the other option is a lexus RX 4x4.. 25K on something that i don't want but the wife does or something alittle more interesting that i will be happy to drive and she will like (even if it to a lesser degree)

In your happy situation I'd be looking a a less "racy" version of those cars. The kids won't thank you for sports suspension and skinny tyres and passengers just don't like being thrown around the back of the car if you drive it fast with them on board. You'll get a much newer model for your £25k too.

Happy shopping!

PS Estate/Touring versions of the Germans are useful for a family. XF is IMO a big car with not much space inside.

I thought the M5 and E55 had a very nice ride. E55 was alittle better, none of them was poor in anyway.

The racey element is for me when the kids aren't in the back!

agree with the XFR. I wasn't to impressed with the boot.
