For those who missed the piccies posted on threads.
I did some pictures of the car after my mammoth 15 hour polishing excercise I talked about in another thread (Maguire products)
Folk were asking for pictures, so I finally got round to posting them.

yeh well, I won't hopefully have to do that all again.. 6-8 hours of that was swirl removal.
Now it just needs a quick detailing spray every week, and I quick wash if it gets dirty. It's a lot less bother to keep it clean now with a good layer of polish and then wax on top.
brake dust that comes off those tvr pads is hellish though... might try some greenstuff next time on em.. just for less brake dust :-)
oh.. and it has full armourfend by the way.. so those saying armourfend is obvious may want to think again.
And I should say, it's an ex-PHers car (Mr Freefall), and a good part of why it looks so good as that it was looked after well by the previous owner!

Please can you tell me more about swirl removel and detail what you did. I really need to do this to my bonnet.
I need to do a lot more actually. Griff is currently parked in my garage still full and unclean since Le Mans.

right... my garage is tidy you sods.. that's all stacked up in rear mounted racks.. painted floor.. fireblade just out of shot.. you could eat your dinner off the floor in there... sheesh.. I have a good mind to post pictures of the garage now.
Though I concede the drive needs weeding.
DustyC posted the other thread about cleaning... though by the look of that bonnet you might need to double the hours.
Details.. well they do to scratch/polish/crap removal things.

they have an online questionaire to find out how anal you are.. say you like nothing better than spending every weekend polishing your car and you get the products I used:
scratch X: for 'deeper scratches'
deep crystal cleaner : gets rid of old polish and small swirls marks
Deep Crystal Polish : gives it really nice wet look
Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax: protective wax finish.
Quick Detailer: spray thing.. fecking awesome
Gold Class Car Shampoo: nice shampoo
Ultimate Wipe microfibre cloth: for detailing
Terry Towels: for applying and removing polish
This will set you back about 90 quid mind you so be prepared..
First, I wanted to strip it back to the paint and remove old polish so used really hot water and washing up liquid.. yup wasing up liquid... this breaks down any waxes and cleans it right back to the laquer layer that you are going to polish.
Personal comment here: I know some people swear by colour polishes.. personally I hate em (I know Pies feels the same). Especially on a laquer finish, all you are doing is colouring the laquer.. this just tints the laquer.. so your pearl/flip/whatever paintwork is just shrouded by a coloured layer and doesn't shine and work as much. My mundaneo was terrible when I got it..being pearl aubergene.. owner had used purple polish and it just looked nearly back... stripped back off and a good coat of just autoglym and the pearl finish was no much more obvious. But as I say personal thing.
They say, just use scratch X selectively, but I found I had to do the whole car to really get the swirls out... takes about 4-6 hours
stick first towel in the wash now and it'll be clean, and dry for the wax stage.
Then I did the whole car with crystal cleaner.. like a finer finish... takes another 2-3 hours, but should look pretty mirror like by now.
now put this towel in the wash :-)
Then apply polish (note: it's a polish..not wax).. it will now look like something in a motorshow.. I was drooling with the finish by now.. but I admit it may have been RSI/madness/halucinations from spending 10+ hours polishing the thing.. (this stage takes maybe 2 hours).
Finally, wax layer.. doesn't look any better after this, but will stay looking good for longer (1-2 hours).
Ok. you're done.
The detailer is a spray thing which you use after a run in car... spray on body, remove with microfibre cloth.. it basically takes off road dust/flies/etc really easily restoring the wax finish and keeping it looking nice. I keep the detailer in the boot (with the 'spare tyre').
Other hints.. get some vinyl gloves (www.screwfix.com) for doing you wheels. Don't use that acid crap.. warm soaping water, sponge.. clean all the way through the alloys. Towel dry. Now apply Halford alloy protector wax. This needs to be reapplied every 6 months or so. They will now clean with warm soapy water every week much easier.. with the gloves on I find a) I don't get brake dust in my nails for a week. b) I don't cut the back of my hands on the brake disks.
As for the obsessive stalker website.. yes... ahem.. well what can I say.. she is cute. havn't updated it in about 2 years though so must be over her.. still gets 6000 hits a month though! And must be linked to by hundreds of websites.. type her name into google and I'm number one. :-)
