Ferrari Daytona racer for sale
Discussion
During the classic car boom years of the late 1980's a friend of our family bought a 1973 Ferrari Daytona. It had originally been supplied new as a regular road car to Australia (I think it was the last one supplied there and possibly even the last RHD car, but I might be mistaken).
Anyway by the time our friend got hold of it, it had been converted into a "Competizione" replica, with flared arches, plexi-glass headlights, whopping wheels, side exhausts and an uprated 450bhp engine, using pukka Ferrari parts. What made it look even more gorgeous was the fact that it was painted only in Rosso red with gold wheels: no stripes, stickers, numbers etc.
Our friend barely drove it, but he did once take me out for a fantastic drive in it along one of the better regarded B roads in the East Midlands. It had brutal power and thunderous noise.
Anyway he later sold it and it has changed hands a few times since but is now back up for sale at Talacrest. Sadly (in my opinion) it seems to have sprouted stripes, stickers and numerals to give it the look of one of the original Competizione Daytonas, whereas before it just looked like the ultimate road car.

Perhaps Talacrest's old cash-cow chum Chris Evans will buy it and paint it white!

It would have probably looked a bit like this one.
