I recently changed the heater valve and when I did so, the pipes didnt look that good. Sure enough, I was using the car today and spotted a wet footwell and leaking hose. Its was dark, but the jubilee clip seemed tight and I think its probably wise to change the hoses. Does anyone know if these are available anywhere or do I just take the old one to a motor factors and try to get a match?

Thanks in advance.

Someone may come along and correct me but... I think the hoses to the heater are off the shelf from any auto spares shop with a reasonable selection of hoses.
None of the 'full' replacement hose kits on offer for the Chimaera appear to include heater hoses so logically that's it.

You also mention 'pipes'?
I haven't seen any internal (in the cockpit) piping on websites, but the engine bay 'heater rails' are also available. ( Racetech Direct)

Without intending to 'tell granny how to suck eggs' as the saying goes;
Before you spend, try re-tightening the hose clips again when the hoses are warm from use. Also, it's much better to use a 1/4 drive ratchet and socket rather than a screw driver for the job.

thanks Goaty. I used a socket set to to up the clips and if anything I have probably over tightened them! Its always quicker to do something the second time, so hopefully get is sorted quickly in the morning.

If you can't get it; Racing Green in Mytchett, Camberley(ish), just off the M3 is open until noon /1 pm on Saturdays.
The parts shop is located differently to the dealership/service department (just so you don't go to the wrong one). Call first to confirm though smile

you could bypass the heater in the engine bay and still use the car just minus the heater

Thanks for the suggestions. I couldnt get one at the motor factors or the local VW dealer. I ended up putting the old one back in and adjusted it differently - before it was set-up to fully close and did not to flow enough, so this time, I set it so that it opened fully. It doesnt switch off now!

As an aside, the pattern part is noticeable thinner and I will probably buy a VW one to be sure of quality.
