Hi

Im am after setting up my eboost2 and I would like to run gear dependent boost settings is there any other way of doing it other than some complicated push switches scattered around the gear linkage?

I know there are things out there that compare engine speed/road speed and display a gear but is there anything that would do this then out put a signal to the eboost2?

I had originaly thought the E-Boost did that already....but seems not.

Cant think of any easy way to achieve it.

What car ? Does it use an aftermarket ecu ? What makeup is the gear shifter etc ?

I was under the impression it did also but doesnt apear to, you can do it by a clutch switch and it switching through the set points but this is obviously only any good for drag racing

Its a saxo running a gems em36

Need to have a closer look at the gear linkage system see if I can work somthing out

The EBoost2 does include this feature, but it's not cheap (~£400).

Again, it doesnt. I just checked the manual because I thought it did.

It only has an rpm input. No road speed input. It can only do boost vs rpm. Or boost via manual switches configured in many different ways.

But checking their site, it says they can do it. I cant see how in their instructions though ?


Definitely nowhere in the manual does it explain boost by gear, nor is there any wiring provision to allow it to happen.
There is no possible way for the EBoost to know what gear you are in.

If your boost control module has a speed input (rpm in this case) you could failry easily make a seperate device to read in engine rpm and wheel speed, and put out a signal to the boost controller that is effectively "NOVS" (N Over VS, or engine rpm divided by Vehicle Speed). Then cal the boost controller input to reduce boost as required.

The web site FAQ has this answer...
You need to set the switch logic to ESP and then mount micro switches in your gearbox to ground the green and orange wire in different combinations to achieve different boost in gears eg: Gear 1 has no wires ground, gear 2 grounds the green wire to get SP2, gear 3 grounds the orange wire to get SP3 and gear 4 grounds both the green and orange wire to get SP4, then gear 5 and 6 will also need to ground both wires to hold SP4 to keep it on high boost.

And if any of those multiple micro switches fail (unlikely) or move out of adjustment (likely) or get gummed up with dirt (likely), or if you rest your hand on the gear lever (possible) then your boost will be all over the place! Can't say that sounds a particularly robust system to me ??

Are the ardiuno`s easy to program, is it somthing i would be able to do if i buy the starter pack and work through the basic tasks in the manual?

Have you tried emailing Turbosmart ?

Their website does clearly state it can do it.

I have looked through the FAQ section and some one asked this and they said it has to be done via the micro switch method
