I'm looking to get some winter tyres sorted out for an e61 BMW. I have a few options one being to downsize to 17" wheels and put winter tyres on and keep these for winter use only.
Otherwise get 18" winter tyres on the wheels I already have. My main question is will the 17" slightly narrower higher profile tyre Perform much better than the 18" option.

Cheers,

Ed.

Cheap set of wheels off ebay + 17s.

That's what I did anyway.

It works for me.

I'd go for smaller wheels for the winter tyres personally.
The actual width of them may be no different, but a larger sidewall will help in a number of winter-based situations.
