"General Impact" calling about who my Gas Supplier is....
Discussion
Just had a strange phone call - It was "Leo" (I think) calling from "Central London" from a company called "General Impact" who wanted to confirm who my Gas provider was (that it was an "Excellent choice") and to verify my postcode, which he had wrong and wanted to "update his records".
I'm more than willing to discuss my provisions with the company that supplies me, but this was an odd call as he wouldn't really tell me who he was or what the real point of the call was, his response being "just to update our records".
I pressed him on this and wanted to know more information, such as why he wanted this and why I should be giving this information out - at which point he got annoyed and a bit angry as all he wanted was my postcode. It was pretty comical really (except I'm in a crappy mood and didn't feel like entertaining this) - he was getting more and more angry and pretty heated about it at which point I hung up.
Has anyone else had this kind of call and what's it all about ?

Sounds like a market research company - they find out how many people in an area are with which company for their energy supplies, and then sell the info on to enable targeted door step sales.
This, I have companies like this constantly trying to sell me data. Usually charge about £2 per client for utility switches.Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
