or, failing that........ use the wheel brace which comes with the car.....

This is a photo of one of my front wheel studs which as you can see has "necked", (reducing the cross sectional area), and also lost a few threads in the middle. This is a direct result of over-tightening. Why people tighten wheel nuts so tight... when, if, they get a puncture..... generally have only the brace which comes with the car is beyond me !

At least two of mine on each side are like this. When you throw your car into a corner just how much a previous owner could have let you down.

Now I need some new studs !!!
