Air sensor has gone by the sound of it bud,had this on a car years back. The symptons are..start car and it idles but very low...sometimes it cuts out...as soon as you touch throttle it dies.To test mine a garage told me to disconnect the offending sensor in my case a maf sensor, then start the careekand by feck the fault went.put a new maf in and she was sweet.PS went through a 2 week process to find the fault and about 300 quid in partsbangheadTry it sir hopefully this is your problem

Tight valve clearances spring to mind, are you sure you set the pushrods correctly? scratchchin have you allowed the tappets adequate time to bleed down if you extended the pushrods?

I had a German bloke set them 0.15' so they must be fine

Plus I helped do them, and can confirm they are all spot on

If it went pear shaped after that would it not be worth doing a compression test?

If open valves are suspect, try unplugging all the injectors , and crank the engine. Listen carefully to the noise as the engine rotates. Its should be even as each cylinder hits compression, but if the cycles uneven it could imply that there is less load when certain cylinders are under compression, ie an part open valve? Another easy test is to fire the engine up from cold from about 30-45 seconds, then quickly touch each exhaust manifold outlet with a wet finger. The hot ones will dry quickly, but if it does not you have found an issue with particular cylinders. It has be be done pretty quickly as the heat quickly evens out across the manifold.

Its idling now, very lumpy but idling, as long as it doesn't cut out I don't care how lumpy

So im happy

But because I pissed about with the tps and afm screw its now running very very rich under load,

Bliz - Do you know the voltages for the tps and afm so I can reset it

Thanks
