further to my last post,,,,i wanted to know if i should go for diesel or petrol 3.0 e90

general response was go for petrol due to my low annual mileage, so i started looking at 330i m sport, my ideal age of car would be 2006 56 to 2007 57, but,, ive been offered what looks like a very clean 2005 55 330i with average miles and full history, and very good spec, i recon i could get it for £8000, only down side is its a 3 owner car, that shouldnt really put me off but for some reason it does, but then i keep thinking it looks cheap.
so,,,what do you guys think? a good deal? or do i pay another 2/3k for a year newer?

A six year old car with three owners woudn't put me off at all.

If condition, history and price are good then why not?

yes your right,,,,,but,,,,,ive realised as i get older that time moves quicker, so 2005 seems like yesterday, so 3 owners seems like alot, maybe i should get therapy before looking for my next car

I used to get hung up on mileage when I was younger. I now buy on condition and the number of previous owners really doesn't bother me so long as everything else checks out.

Like I said, if the condition, history, spec and price of the car are sound, a couple of grand saving over a car 12 months newer appears to be good value to my mind.

My current E36 323 Vert has a great pedigree despite the number of previous owners (5)..I too used to get hung up on number of owners, more a case of psychologicaly wanting to be only the second person to drive it..but five careful owners is obviously better than one 'careful' lady owner who has never so much as checked the oil!..would rather have 100,000 careful motorway miles than 30,000 badly driven 'popping down the shops' ones too!..common sense is the main 'rule' when buying a used car..

..and in 15 years of driving 30+ used cars I have never had a breakdown..I like to think that is more than just blind luck!..

My 1998 Mondeo has 10 previous owners - this I was not aware of before the V5 came through, but it is absolutely fine.

If the car is good, I wouldn't let that put you off smile

Agree with all of the above.

Plus £8k is a bargain for that car if it's 80k miles or below.
