The local gob-ste who knows everything (aka, my best mate) has been telling me that my gearbox needs resetting as it's hit about 75k. He has told me that there is a secret reset that can be done to the gearbox by knocking it into neutral when moving and then pulling both paddles for about 10 seconds.

Is he (as I suspect) talking absolute gash, or has he stumbled across some sort of magical fix-all that will make my gearbox last forever?! If it is the latter, what the hell would resetting the gearbox do?

The process he has described does reinitialise the gearbox slip recognition, normally required after a tyre change, but he is talking absolute st about the reset required at 75K. What a dhead.

It's such a well kept secret that it is in your owners manual. wink

Aha, that would be why I don't recognise it then - I don't do manuals, that's why I'm on PH! Funnily enough, I'm re-shoeing the car in the next couple of weeks, so is this something that I should be doing then?

Yes, straight piece of road, 20mph select N, or 0 depending on the age of your car, pull both paddles simultaneously and hold for approx 2 seconds.

If you do not do this the car will self learn as you drive it, but you may experience some clutch slip during the learning period.
