Lingenfelter is one of the biggest and most popular Corvette tuners and is a legendary company. Unfortunately John Lingenfelter died a few months ago
. Given the context, a "Lingenfelter" would most likely mean a Corvette which has been tuned by Lingenfelter (probably with one of their packages).

Wasn't it 8.95 not just over 9? That is what the magazine said (LPE have the article and cover on their website address), and every site gives those times. I don't think it was a big block, either

Its probably in his bed side table with the pages stuck together and he's too embarrased to hand it back
