Brake Discs

Hi has anyone upgraded the front & back brake discs on the 3r/m400 other than the noble grooved ones that i think is by AP?

Only the grooved for me, didn't know of any others.

I think the grooved are the only upgrade available , to be honest the grooved disc setup is very good and I cannot see how you can improve it without a caliper change . Tux

I remember matt at Jetstream talking about doing a big brake kit but I'm not sure if its ready yet? Might be worth giving him a call.

I think there were rumours that Jetstream are developing a brake upgrade, otherwise grooved are the only option I think. I'll be looking into it over winter, can't believe how badly cracked my drilled discs are!

AP do 6 pot kits and larger discs, I'm sure if you told them the part numbers of the calipers we have, they'll be able to tell you what will fit as a straight swap. They do 356mm or even bigger if you need them.

Grooved are very good. Be aware of the need to do hubs, bearings and a skim too

Only to get home from Belgium last week, the discs were fine after the ring laps but the following day at spa I was a bit hard on them and noticed the cracks appear after that, about 1" long some of them and maybe 7-8 cracks per front disc. Next job identified!

Had front AP grooved discs replaced before last weeks Ring/Spa trip with new AP's by Jetstream with Padged RS29 carbon pads all round.

Incredible, stunning stopping power now, much later braking on track, albeit only did 5 laps but could immediately notice difference.

My standard brakes are not really good enough on track, and on the road i think they are a bit dodgy too.
They do not feel very progressive and i locked up on dry tarmac twice over the weekend. Wonder of the tyres were too cold?
Do P Zero Rossos need decent heat in them or do Nobles have a tendency to lock up the fronts reasonably easily on normal country lane driving?

maybe its the front end being lighter due to the extra downforce being produced by my recent addition of Tux's beautiful carbon wing ends!

Forgot to add, with the additional aero that Tux has done recently, certainly has worked as the rear end grip has been enhanced plus carbon splitter/infills underneath at the front, once the Corsa tyres are to temperature in conjunction with the brakes even more a formidable track weapon at Spa.

Carbon floor bits from Tux to come VERY soon.
I love my new rear wing ends.
Brakes will surely have to follow the front aero mods...so keep us all posted what combo works best!

As for carbon ceramic discs, if they are anything like this, no thanks and that diff would drive me mad. Other than that, nice car

not the diff, it's because it has a sequential gearbox it makes that dreadful whining noise and is really jerky. That could be about the least "designed for london streets" car i have ever seen.
