Evening chaps,

Went along to the Hilton and Moss open day today, a good day out as always.

They had a rolling road going so I thought it would be rude not to get the old girl on there and see what difference the latest mods have made. I was very pleased with the results:

The Air Fuel ratio pretty spot on thanks to the Mark Adams Tornado software. Max torque is very early in the rev range which I am happy with.

Thanks gents thumbup

Thanks macdeb, after seeing the dash in David Hothersall's Griff I have made the decision to change the dash back to veneer next year with the matching nardi wheel. I do hope it is the right decision as I do quite like the metal dash irked

Great figures Matt, you must be well pleased.
Gives me an idea for what to do to mine.

nice figures matt, with the torque up at 380 if you wanted you could tweak the cam timing a tad and drop the torque to 350 and get horsepower up to around 335-340bhp `ish? if you were really chasing numbers that ishehe

Cheers Clive thumbup

To be honest I think I would rather have the torque than the BHP. The low down torque is what I really like about the Griff.

Next on the list is the Bosch AFM, Injectors and a Mark Adams remap. I still quite fancy the ACT Carbon fibre twin throttle plenum as well..... mainly because it looks cool

Hi John,

I am glad someone has questioned it as I am not too sure what to make of the result myself. I am no expert but with my mods and based on other Tivs I have seen on the dyno I would guess somewhere around 280BHP and 325ftlb assuming it is a healthy engine.

I understand that due number of variables involved anything other than a engine dyno is not going to be 100% accurate. Normally the best way to compare is to look at the results from other cars tested on the same day on the same dyno as all of the variables are pretty consistent and a true comparison can be made.

The only direct comparison I have is Lesters Chim 500 which was tested about an 2 hours before mine. Here is the graph borrowed from his exhaust thread:

Chim 500

My Griff 500

After mine a Cerb 4.2 went on and achieved 398BHP. I am not sure if that is about right for a Cerb 4.2 or not? Curiously most of the Lotus owners who put their cars on thought the dyno was reading might be reading a little under confused

Anyhow I shan't complain too much biggrin

I hope its correct.. you sure have a nice set up if it is....
I only have engine numbers for mine at 265 BHP but they say you should add 50 BHP or 21%.. if you do it makes mine about 315 BHP but when out with guys in 290 BHP cars its no faster really... it does make you wonder how much actual differance 20 BHP or so would make on the road? anyway who knows... best way will be to get them all on the Dyno at next years Growl!!!!
Pleased for you anyway...its good to be North of the 300 mark smile

BTW... you didn't list the Ali centers on your spec list... these alone are worth 5 bhp laugh

380ftlb's and 321bhp for a stock 500 with some trumpets and decat?!

I wish my modded 4.6 would be near that, and there not alot left to change in my engine

Very nice

Matthew, some nive figures there...... not bad since a year at the Growl, gained what 50-60bhp just by looking at was not set-up right and some sensible non budget breaking mods.

TBH if your happy with the car as it is, as the fueling looks good, I wouldn't bother with bespoke mapping as I don't think you'll gain much from it, apart from a bespoke which probaly aint going to be much different to the plug in and play chip.

carry out further mods, maybe yes

I will be very interested to see what your Griff does on our usual Griff Growl Dyno next year since the new cam and the Mark Adams mapping session as I think you have done all the mods that I am planning to do over the next few years.

I still reckon that mine will make about 280BHP and 325ftlb at the fly on our usual dyno. Like you say best to wait until all the Griff are together and compare on the same dyno.

No ali centres listed as suprise suprise I have still not fitted them yet.... getmecoat I am still saving up for a full alloy wheel refurb and will get the centers sprayed to match at the same time. Hopefully this winter. smile

Cheers fella thumbup

I was hoping your were going to turn up so we could see what yours would get the dyno. wink

The AFR is pretty spot on like you say so I think you are right about it not needing much further mapping. I may bolt on a few more shiny ACT bits tho. biggrin

No where near as much BHP as yours though! I would be very interested to see what your the figures your lovely V8D engine would produce with a torquey cam like the MC1.
Yes it would scratchchin The current cam is somehwere between a stealth and a 404, it's quite lumpy at the bottom end, but the grunt from 4k to just over 6k is very impressive, with soundtrack to boot biggrin The engine work isn't finished yet, some more induction mods and a RR remap still to do. Expecting (hoping actually) something around the 370 mark, and possibly a similar hike in torque (percentage wise). The ACT triple is something else, throttle response is more bike than car wink

ETA: Matthew, your mention of ACT twin TB, I've heard it mooted that the gains from the twin aren't mahoosive over an enlarged single. This is only what I've heard, I guess Tim at ACT would be the one to speak to. I take your point about the looks though biggrin
