E46 M3 with 85K miles... buy or avoid?
Discussion
I have had a 2003 m3 e46 smg convertible offered to me that ticks all the boxes as far as colour, spec and condition is concerned yet it has 85k on the clock.
It seems that the car has a full history and I am in the process of checking all the supplied information regarding maintainance, recalls and miles being correct and genuine. I did drive a lot nicer than a couple of other cars I have driven so far and the smg seemed to work without a fault on a long test drive I took with it.
What concerns me is are m3's at this age/mileage likely to have higher maintainance costs than a car with say 50-60k? As the milestone 100k is passed do any additional measures need taking into account as far assessing the potential cost over a less leggy car?
Is there anything more in particular that I should check for before purchase?

My 2003 M3 vert has done 75,000 and feels every bit as good if not better than when i bought it with less than 40,000 on the clock. As far as i am aware there is nothing big to worry about at this mileage or even well beyond that.My only concern would be the smg though im sure the smg owners will tell you its nothing to worry about.
If the car looks like it has been well looked after and all the service history is up to scratch then go for it,other than the routine stuff you will have to do on lower mileage cars aswell there should be nothing to worry about.
