Sportshift problems

Stuck at roadside in v8s with sportshift that jumps into 2nd when you put the key in, before even attempting to start the engine. Car won't move in 2nd but will go into and move in r. Can't select 1st. Any

Is there a fues to take out to reset the shift?

Aa here now. They have disconnected and reconnected the battery which I guess does the same thing ? No joy .........
