Attaching steel to an alloy casting
Discussion
Today my digger blow a fitting out of the oil filter housing
Its a steel threaded insert which was a press fit into the alloy.
Its no longer a press fit
So it needs to be oil and pressure tight
I tried leaded based solder and that did nothing
Brasing is too hot
So would silver soldering work?
If not would a good epoxy glue survive hot oil

problem with tapping is the casing is very very thin.
And it would be a big thread as the hole is maybe 15mm, unless i make up my own adaptor.
need to have a think if the silver soldering is out
Anything you can buy in B&Q up to the task in the way of glues etc?
As its the only place open on a sunday
