I have been offered up a Spitfire 22mm ARB. My Vixen 2500 (vixen frame) car has a 17mm bar on it now. With the Spitfire ARB fit my car? It one time i saw a post of someone with a series one car were a spitfire bar did not fit? Will it fit my car?
Also will the 22mm bar be a good improvement? It makes no sense to do this if it is not going to do anything for me.

thank you

That was me. Certainly doesn't fit Series One cars, but the Vixen parts list does say it fits Vixens.

As a guide, the Spitty bar I have is about 765mm accross the widest part.

Do you think the wider 22 mm bar would help the heaver vixen 2500? I really wish someone would make an aluminum cylinder head for the TR6 motor. it would let all of use with these motors drop some weight.

A thicker one would be good but I couldn't find anything off the shelf that was thick and fitted. The Spitfire one certainly doesn't.

When I were a lad double anti-roll bars were the thing to have on your Anglia/ Cortina etc.

Basically a second bar clamped to the original in about four places by some spacer blocks. Have no idea whether this would fit or work on a Vixen ?

Here you go.... clicky

Bar is from a Herald/Vitesse I think.

Also - double anti-roll bars do work. I used to use a double bar on a 105E along with a Mk1 Cortinaesque A frame on the rear axle and they worked brilliantly. Not the neatest solution though.

I doubled up the arb on a Sunbeam engined Hillman Minx I built in the early 70's, worked well until the original bar snapped mid corner propelling me into the sceneryyikes Just like running spacers with extended screw-on studs we used back then, the only safe way to uprated an arb is to fit a thicker one with the appropriate clamps and drop-links

I think you will find that you will need modified drop links to fit the Vixen.I believe you can mod the triumph OE or alternatively DG still supplies ARB drop links for the Vixen.
