Winter shedding aka Brokeback1, Jeep Grand Cherokee.

With winter approaching and being in the backend of nowhere, i decided to keep an eye out for a cheap 4x4.
Landrovers were out, mainly being too expensive, Suzuki's a touch camp, and Fronteras just rubbish.
So a Jeep it was. I wanted something with alittle 'waft' so looked at Grand Cherokee's. Derv versions where too expensive, and the petrol versions 20mpg was alittle hard to swallow, so LPG seemed the answer.
However these were few and far between and also above my £1k budget.
*until* this little beauty popped up!:
1996, 89k miles, LPG, full leather, 4 litre straight six, Quadra-drive.
Bodywork was tatty but mechanically solid with an MOT only 2 weeks old.
Price?
£595
included half a tank of petrol!
After a good machine polish and a bit of elbow grease the externals look much better, and the internals are untouched.
the car managed 20mpg so far, but only costs £40 to fill with gas.
It is as smooth as silk, no knocks, no bumps, and with 4 rather new BF Goodrich offroad tyres should be perfect for the winter!
Cheaper than snow tyres? No, but alot more fun!

Is that 20mpg actual consumption? I'd thought that was pretty good for one of those, especially on gas. Nearly makes it cheap to run!

ETA Gumtree I see. Typical - close to home for me. You must have snapped that up pretty quickly - only advertised on Friday. Top work!

Having had a pax ride in Brokeback 1 on Saturday evening, I'd say it feels very comfy indeed. It certainly felt less squishy through the corners that a Freelander 2 I've been out in, in the past. I was also impressed with the absence of interior squeaks & rattles - BB seems well screwed together.

Unlike the VM 2.5TD engine they use for the diesels. Excellant buy for the money. I looked at these and they tend to hover round the £1000 mark and when I was looking, gas versions were about £1500.
Did you get heated seats? Not all the Grands have them.

Yup it's a limited, so comes with electric seats, 2 memory keys (mirrors, seats and radio adjusts to the keyfobs), heated leather, cruise control, and onboard computer. All still works!
