Bad films I watched this weekend
Discussion
OK, first was The American, starring George Clooney – pretentious, over long and boring.
But this pales in comparison to the movie we paid almost £12 each to watch last night – the Three Musketeers! I was expecting a cool swashbuckler of old, but no – what we had was Milla Jovovich playing exactly as Alice in the RE films, a guy playing D’artagnon (Sp!) with a very American accent, sailing ships with air balloons – it was a complete travesty, worse than the League of Extraordinary Gentleman. It was so bad that a few even walked out half way through (and I’m not making that up)!
With movies like this coming out, I can understand why the cinema is struggling – plus, after paying so much to see this rubbish, we have to endure over half an hour of ads before the film starts!
Last night was the last night I ever go to the cinema. The experience was shockingly bad. Unless film makers start making genuine quality and cover new ground - but I can't see that happening anytime soon.

I had the same feeling about cinemas last weekend after I went to see 'Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy' (which is a class film by the way). I normally go to the local independant cinema where the picture quality isn't the best but it's cheap and the place is normally quite empty. Since the film I wanted to see was no longer playing there though I had to go to one of the larger chains...... £8.60 for a ticket!!! My God, I could basically buy the film when it comes out on DVD for that! If I'd have had something to eat and drink I doubt I'd have had much change out of twenty quid. Then, as the OP said, you have to sit through half an hour of adverts! At my local cinema they normally just jump straight into the film. After coming out of the film I told myself that I would never go to a large chain cinema again.
With regards to 'The Three Musketeers', you can't expect much since it's one of Paul W.S. Anderson's piles of rubb.... sorry.... film
Rant over.

Oh and the bad film is Horrible bosses, I only watched the film on the promise of seeing a bit of Jennifer and it didn't deliver on that either.

I watched Transformers: Revenge of the fallen.....
Not really sure what to say, I don't think I've ever seen such a dreadful film before. Terrible script, appalling camera work and messy effects. Massive wasted opportunity that I struggle to believe would even appeal to 12 year old boys let alone anyone else.
Even Megan Fox looked average and did nothing to improve it.

Just re-watch the Dick Lester versions of the Three & Four Musketeers to wipe your mind clean. Doesn't matter how many remakes they do, no one will ever top those.
If you've got a family of four and you're going to see a 3d film it must be getting close to £100.00 once you've included parking, snacks and ice cream. And that's before you consider that you'll probably have to have dinner out as well. Plus the film could be a bag o's
te.
Wonder why cinema attendances are down and movie streaming is up..

You are quite correct - the Dick Lester versions are great - and only me and the wife went out last night, and that 'experience' cost us the best part of £50!If you've got a family of four and you're going to see a 3d film it must be getting close to £100.00 once you've included parking, snacks and ice cream. On a similar subject, I took my 9 year old and a few of his mates to the cinema last week.
Some child had dropped his entire bag of pick n mix, right next to the PNM stand, thus spilling sweets alles uber der platz.
An elderly cleaner then turned up, picked the sweets up and dropped them into a little catch tray at the base of the display (obviously fitted to catch the odd dropped sweet before it hits the deck).
I would like to think that at the end of the shift, the catch trays are emptied into the bin, but I've got a funny inkling that once the doors are closed and locked, the errant sweets are returned to their proper places and sold on to the punters.
Just something to think on, next time you visit a big multiplex.

Note to self: don't ever buy snacks etc from the kiosk! Some child had dropped his entire bag of pick n mix, right next to the PNM stand, thus spilling sweets alles uber der platz.

Bump!
Max Payne.
Technically, I only watched half and hour of it. Why doesn't Max Payne, a detective, not have a mobile phone? It could be because he is a terrible detective in the worst police force in the world. Right at the start it is established that if they have to go outside of the office then they just won't bother. Then when someone does eventually drag themselves to a crime scene they take evidence and... bung it in their pocket.
I'm watching Under Siege 2 instead, it is more believable and has less plot holes.
