My brother got married on Saturday and to surprise him I borrowed a friends R33 GTR for the day.

Not a big deal to many on Piston Heads but, a big deal to some who reads PH but is trapped in a 1.6 Astra LOL.

I'd driven it before but only briefly when helping my mate out, but he says take it and bring in back on Sunday so I can enjoy myself a bit.

So I chose not to drink so that I could drive all day, I then took a very long route home from the
reception smile

It was great spending the day with people asking about the car (being to honest for my own good I admitted it wasn't mine) and being asked to take people for a quick drive in it (the kids especially loved it as they thought it was very Fast & Furious!).

Would you have done the same if someone lent you a nice car for the day?

My mate thought is was funny and couldn't understand why I didn't tell people the car was mine!

Really cheap cars now. If you liked it that much... treat yourself!

I actually prefered my old R33GTR to the R34GTR that I paid 3 times as much for! to drive that is... To look at the R34 was clear winner.

Any pics of it? did you put wedding ribbons on? smile

I lost my job due to buying a certain car. Quite a sacrifice.

Back in mid 90s had a job which came with company car. If you read the company car policy carefully I discovered I could order a Fiat Coupe (had to have 4 seats and max 2 litre engine). This was just after they came out, no-one knew what it was - "Mike ordered a Fiat, what an idiot". So, this amazing-looking car turns up. MD was completely pissed off (I used to deliverately park it next to his Ford Scorpio!). I argued my case but they got rid of me soon after (not giving the car as a reason of course). Still, I bought the car off them cheap and then set up a company and have been self-employed ever since and no more corporate crap to put up with.

Bought another Fiat Coupe a couple of years ago just to remind myself (a) that the car had done me a favour (and I also wanted the turbo version) and (b) not to be an idiot boss who expects all his employees to conform.

Not the best picture (That's what happens when you leave your missus in charge of a camera LOL)

We got some funny looks on the drive to the wedding because people weren't expecting the car to look like it did. It attracted quite a crowd at the pub we had the meal at afterwards, I went out to get something from the car and ended up answering questions for 10 mins.

Was fun to drive! I just need to get saving smile

The car was sold the following day (my mate very kindly held off the viewing until Sunday) but considering what you can buy them for it's allot of car for the money. My mate is in the process of re-shelling another one (the current car is so rotten I think it must have lived in the sea rather than by the sea) and if I needed any help he's a very knowledgeable chap when it comes to skylines and stagea's. I have considered the possibility of buying a broken one and fixing it as I can do the physical work and he can help me out with sourcing the parts and explaining how to do stuff.

But then again I also know how much petrol I used in one evening LOL!
