Hi all, hope Oulton was good fun!

I'm trying to get on to TSL to get the times to do the points but the server appears to be down! Does anyone have a copy I can have to update and issue the points with?

I'm a bit confused!!! When I spoke to Geoff P I was told that Tim wasn't running for points as is usually the case for a new entry into the series at the very end so there would be no effect on championship runners. By my reckoning I should have 43 points from the weekend, Andy getting fastest lap in race 1.

Maybe someone will clarify.

TBH I'm very fed up with the whole thing, will be looking elsewhere to race next season I think.

I'm just going on the points sheets! On the sheets it lists everyone in the invitational class as 'I' and Tim is 'B'. Happy to change it if that's the case... I'm not near the point sheet at the moment so I'll have to ammend it in the morning

Your right Cliff, Tim wasn't up for any points as he was in invitation class. Maybe Nick wasn't aware and he will adjust it accordingly. Pity your thinking of going elsewhere mate, I was really looking forward to racing with you next year. What would make you reconsider? email me if you like. Not that I have any say, but just interested.

Cliff/Nick - when I asked JR on Sat why Tim and Deano were in the invitation class (see OP WIKI thread)he said it was because they had joined the DTEC late and could potentially have skewed the Championship points on the last weekend, hence rewarded for places in Classon the day, but no points.
Definitely needs clarifying by JR.

This whole points, class thong caused nothing but confusion and argument.

IMHO, if a class car is entered it should take the points of it's position and a podium if it gets it. Ok if your not registered for the championship your points shouldn't add up but you should get them for each round.

That way everyone knows they are racing a car for points..,

The invitation class should be purely for cars outside the classes and specials...

The rule about mo points for late joiners to the series is another carry over from tc days, when big budgets were at stake there was a temptation to bring in a ringer at the end of the season to take points off people, I don't see that being an issue anymore myself

I spoke with the series organisers in private about a number of points (no pun intended) over the weekend before the first race and that's how it should remain.

Graham - with the best will in the world and with "no axe to grind" as far as personal points are concerned, the issue should be made crystal clear to all competitors. In other words, if you join the DTEC series as the new owner or driver of a registered car only for the last 1 or 2 (?) Championship races - Tim and Dean's cases - should you be able to score points?

Your historical perspective from the TC is valid, but doesn't detract from the need for a clear set of rules for the current era.

Your correct that the most important thing is that everyone knows the situation before the race..


I do think though, that if your racing another car in the same class, you should get the points for your finishing position.

I.e. if you come third and the car in front isn't registered for the whole season then, you should still only get the points for third, so to get points for second you have to come second.

Fair enough if the non championship car doesn't get his point carried forward to. The next round. Etc.


Something like that will encourage everyone to race, and makes it more rewarding for someone who can only do a few rounds and more likely for them to enter the odd round.

Both Dan and I did Oulton last year, same as Tim.
Spent stloads on our cars and loads of effort to get them out...same as Tim.

We weren't in the C'ship and the rules said we couldn't be.

We were then ignored in the celebrations, both at the circuit and then in the hotel.
No Trophies, nothing for being there no plaques, no even a mention.
Dan (& Mal) even went as far as sponsoring the new Invitation Trophies.

Problem sorted?

Didn't affect me in the slightest this year, but I thought it was tough on CJ in particular so I pointed it out to Geoff (as someone was missing out on a Class win and a podium for 3rd) right after the Race 1 presentation. There was an invitation trophy for Tim...there were 4 available.
Even Tim was suprised.

I'm sure that the problem here stems from the BRSCC listings.
The TSL positions are set by these and they are often WELL out of date/incorrect.
Nick is going by these in order that he can get them out promptly.

Lets not let it spoil a great year of TVR racing and I hope that we don't loose CJ. A beautiful car with a cracking driver. We've lost too many of those already one way and another.

Bit of a difficult situation for Tim...what was he going to do? shout no its all wrong, do it again, or just go up and get the trophy and sort it out after.

Not sure why he got the 2nd one though. They knew by then...I told them if no one else did.

I have to say that of all the "vagueries" of the C'ship, this one hacks me off the most. I've been on the butt end of it a couple of times and it's not nice. Not knowing who you are racing...who's getting points...what the points are...1/2 points...

One of main reasons I will only be dipping in next year. We'll be here for the whole season but there's other stuff I want to do. I'll just turn up for 1 or 2 and race every bngger.
