have a 2001 330ci Auto,with 156k

When I first had it about 8 moths ago, it cut out, I restarted the car it has been fine ever since, maybe happened 1/2 times in 12,000 miles.

This morning, I kept cutting out. I would start it, it seems a bit hesitant to start, when I select D and pull away it would cut out.

It did this about 10 times.

Then finally it went back to normal, but did seem a bit sluggish.

I did a throttle reset which seem to make it pull away a bit quicker, but it seemed sluggish on the motorway.

Any ideas

At a guess probably crank sensor, think there is another sensor too that could be suspect. You should get your codes read and see what it throws up

It'll probably be camshaft sensor, maybe crank sensor. Another vote to get fault codes read.

Don't think it would be an ignition coil these generally cause misfire, not cutting out.

Thanks for the offer, coincidently this happened in Sheffield!!

To give an update, I had a mobile mechanic come out an have a look at it and run a diagnostics.

It came up with a Camshaft sensor fault as suggested above.

However, there are two parts and the diagnostics doesnt say which one to replace.

Any ideas? He quoted £90 but can get both for that from eurocarparts

Finnaly, he cleared the fault code and it did not reappear, so fingers crossed it wont come back
