I drive a Toyota MR2 Mk2 Roadster and being rear-wheel drive I am keen to prepare for the winter which, if as bad as last year, could make driving very tasty indeed. What I would like to know is what alterations would you recommend I make - other than a more reserved driving style - in preparation for heavy precipitation, snow and ice? For example, someone has suggested I swap my rear tyres for specialist winter tyres to improve grip on greasy roads. Obviously changing all four tyres would be ideal but I'm not exactly flush with cash at the moment! Any advice would be much appreciated.

Best would be to swap all the tyres for winter tyres. I wouldnt bother just changing the rears.

Maybe you can find some part worn winter tyres cheaper?
