To be honest it wasnt so bad at first.

This cam had a 248 inlet and a 256 exhaust proflie on solids and adjustable rods with the old dizzy and an afm and chip that were way out at the time.

You get good consistent launches and times, especially for a 'gear cruncher'.
Some very nice driving there.

Cheers for the compliment. There have been a few missed gears to be honest and i wont even mention the reverse gear burnouts
The term 'burnout' used loosely as i barely create tyresmoke. Those MTs are expensive.
Maybe i should start trying to get more heat into them

What stereo? you have obviously never heard how good/splashy the 500 cammed 4.0 HC sounds on idle

I remember one guy who rolled back onto the line after his burn, and launched his 327 Camero in reverse from about 5k. Once we realised no one had died (excepting his driveline of course), we all had a good laugh while we helped him load what was left of his car onto a borrowed trailer.

I can't claim to be an out and out expert here, and I am sure you have spent your fair share of time on American websites doing research, but we always avoided trying to get too much heat into streeters. They just aren't (as you will well know) the same as drag slicks, and won't react the same way.
To be honest, I was surprised to see you in the bleach at all.

Flash the road dirt off and go was the norm.

All said and done, the only truth to what works, is experience, times and speeds.
Seems to be working pretty good for you as it is. You managed to get a hole shot on a couple of cars that never should have let it happen IMO.

The Mickey Thompson Street ETs as close to a slick as you can get and still be road legal.

They do need heat.
Andy Fadsters Twister runs on them and ran 8.3 at York.

But as you say its all about practice and experimentation.
I will give them a second gear smoke out on the 29th and see.
