Hi. My kitchen tap is leaking around the base. It probably needs a new washer but I can't see how to remove it. There is nothing obvious to unscrew under the cap. Also does anyone know what make this tap is if I need to replace it. Thanks for the help.

Have a look under the handle? There is sometimes a blue/red cap you can prise off to reveal a small grub screw which will allow the handle to lift off.

The cartridges can the usually be wound out or sometimes they are held in place with a circlip.

I can't see any cap under the handle. I can only guess the handle pulls straight off but reluctant to try it without knowing for certain in case I break anything.

Looking at your pic it looks like a prise up and hope for the best, the retaining screw you removed should be the only contrition IMHO.

Have a look around the back - sometimes a (tiny) grub screw is located there.

If it's one of those taps which turns on and off with a quarter turn (it looks like it), it will need a new tap body and not just a washer.

Take the old one to a plumber's merchant and hope they have a replacement in stock. Costs about £30.
