Has anyone had any success adjusting the gear lever on a SD1 gearbox ? In place !

Mine appears to hit the 1/2nd gear gate too early making 1st gear hard to get when warm. I’ve tried every which way to get some adjustment on the linkage and bulk plate from underneath. Which has meant several hours of frustrating fiddling with 10mm spanners on my back under the box
Good training if your a gynaecologist but not much fun.

I’m currently debating whether or not it’s worth taking a file to the gate and shaving a few thou’ off it. Any thoughts ?

I had the same problem with my gearbox. After a few sessions trying to get it to shift properly, I received some "advice" from the misses to hand the job to a trained technician who at least knew what he was doing. I had it with our local dealer (Nimag) they fixed it within one our. All they did is remove the top console and tighten every loose connection, from the top, and from below the car. The mechanic told me that after some time the gearlinkage gets loose , this accounts for the bad gearshifts. I had the oil replaced by Castrol SMX-S, a fully synthetic gearbox oil, this also helped.
So it's just a thought, maybe tightening all of the gearlinkage could help.
