Hi,

Im very new to this but been having a go at a few RWYB events and really enjoying it.

I have a twin turbo 4.6 TVR Chimaera and I was struggling to get it off the line without spinning like crazy up till third.

I have put on a set of Toyo R888's and this has grately improved things but I just cant seen to get away in first without spinning like crazy, you seem to have no control over the power when the turbos spin up.

Im thinking of an adjustable boost to maybe get me off the line using a lower psi then when I change in to second switch to high boost. Does this sound like the best way I have to a better time??

Any idears welcome I just done see how I can be better on the power when it just zaps around when on boost. I also dropped the tyre pressures and adjusted the suspension firm at the rear and soft at the front (from memory)

Going again on 29th this month so want to improve my 11.9 @ 121 smile

Thanks

Neal

Hello, welcome to the Quartermile and its section of PH !

I am no driver, just a commentator, but have to ask (you and the PH DragHeads) :

would a different suspension setting not be more efficient,

like a soft rear compression setting in order to get a better weight transfer to the rear axle ?

these a circuit tyre with hard side walls, even with a massive burnout they dont warm up anywear near enough, if you can get the right sizes for your tyre try some Mickey Thompson street slicks, they will aid you with traction and road legal

I used to run mid 1.8's on my 888's 2 tears ago at York and have only gained a few hundredths on my MT street ETs. I think a car as light as a TVR needs to get the suspension settings right in order to get the desired weight transfer to push into the tyres on launch.
I have found setting the shox soft at the front helps the transfer and hard at the rear to push to the tyre rather than the suspension soaking it up.
The 888's are much softer than any 'normal' street tyre and a car like a TVR will benefit greatly at the strip on them and can also drive home safely on them.
I wouldnt want to drive home on my MTs.
I am also sure that i will start running 1.7s to 60 foot soon and as they say, a tenth at 60 foot is worth 3 at the 1/4. Well maybe 2 tenths at least.
