Just a quicky

I have got myself a 260mm Caterham steering wheel for my kit build and wondered how heavy the steering is on a Caterham with one fitted?

Will I need to be a weight lifter to twirl the wheel?

The car I'm building will be a little heavier than a Caterham but the rack will be a little slower at 2.4. Tyres will be 195/50/15.

Cheers

Heavy at parking/low speed but it lightens up once you're going. In a light car it's not a problem.

It'll be marvellous. Just don't expect to be able to dry steer!

I don't think you can compare a Caterham to another car - they will be different. Weight of steering will be affected by the amount of castor. You have the wheel. Suggest you fit it and make up your own mind.

I've driven a few different Caterhams with and without the quick rack on different wheels and tyres and would never describe the steering as heavy by any means - on any of them. I've known it get stiff with a worn rack, but not really heavy. Obviously you won't be able to twirl the wheel under 5mph like you can with PAS, but unless you're parallel parking I've never felt the need to do that.
