Discussion
Hi all
My name is Josh and I work on behalf of http://www.partsworldperformance.com
I just wanted to know how you think we could improve the site, whats missing and what you like about the new site? Obviously it has undergone massive changes and alot of you may not like this, but we will listen and try to improve the site.
Cheers
Josh

For starters your link does not work.
Can't remember what the old site looked like.
I don't dislike the new site but then again I'm easily pleased.
There is a location map in the bottom left corner which does not open when clicked. It just zooms in and out but is too small to use. The map does not appear in the contacts page where I would expect it.
Where a picture is featured with a brief description (say an engine) it is normal for both the 'More info' button and the picture to take you to the next page when clicked. In this site you have to specifically click on the words as even the rest of the button graphic does not respond .

We are our three main competitors, (Strata 21, Aquila and Topcats) listed as clients, and MacG Racing (http://www.macgracing.co.uk) are not?!My name is Josh and I work on behalf of http://www.partsworldperformance.com...

Personally, I think it looked far more professional previously - it was clear and represented what you do well. Functionality wise I can't comment, but I don't remember clicking on any links and it not working.
I think the current design looks like it was created in a 90's version of Frontpage. It does remind me of a template people have used for personal sites and imo is outdated and doesn't look professional. If I was to take a punt I'd say it was designed by someone who hadn't created a website before - sorry if that's harsh and I don't know if that's you or not Josh, but this is supposed to be the initial impression customers have of your company and it was better before.
If you remove the instrument design and alloy plate background, that would be a start and help it to look less homemade I think.
I think with websites, you either need to do it properly, or not at all, again don't mean to sound harsh, I just expect to see something more polished in 2011.

Just had another quick look at the site.... here's some constructive comments, I hpoe they help you resolve & repair with your design / hosting company.
- Poor response / load times, compared to other sites. Not sure how pages are constructed & whether graphics and scripts have been fully optimised, but could be worth checking with your web developer (applies to all pages, some more than others)
- Large format of all components seems to suggest an attempt at page filling which unfortunately reduces site impact and lacks professionalism
- Incomplete navigation (e.g. when drilling into the 888 pages, there is no menu or breadcrumb navigation to go back or further explore the site). A lack of full navigation afflicts the full site
- As others have said the map is poorly implemented and of little use
- The Site Map is incomplete, missing pages and implemented as a list, not a true map
- Incorrect information provided (e.g. LS3 480 is stated as 5.3L on some pages / graphics)
- The large scrolliing pics on each page take up too much space and distract. The implementation of pop-outs would be more professional
- Page layouts are not correctly controlled (non-dynamic), meaning that the additional "you'll also need" panels push out over the top of other page content obscuring information / links
- Some text over-fills it's allocated page spacing / layout and drops across other presentation items
- Contact page control & font sizing is peculiar!
- From Contact page, "PWP" logo link is broken
Jut a quick 10mins check, so won't be an exhaustive QA, but hopefully this'll help you get things sorted. Sorry to say, the old site was much better, a nip & tuck would have been a better (& cheaper) option.
