And a Vatican cardinal, (so not just a fringe nutter), says that condoms have little holes in them on purpose in order to transfer aids. They also say condoms increase the incidence of aids.

We're told that if we turn off our TV and pay more for electricity, then we'll help stop global warming.....

Once you 'accept God (or Jesus, whoever) into your life' such belief is logical.

Everyone is vulnerable to the dangers of belief, even educated and intelligent people. If we assume Voorderman really believed all that stuff about de-tox then that is just as daft.

But the most vulnerable are those who have been brought up in the belief of magic and scary people in the sky. A lack of education, a reason to distrust those putting forward the scientif method, and you have maleable minds.

Don't forget that here in the educated and sophisticated west belief in miracles, as evidenced by the recent rash of beatifications and sainthoods, is still endemic. One chap, Tom Aquinus changed herrings into sardines http://christianity.thoughts.com/debater32/st-thom...

One wonders what the current pope would say about it if he was forced to be honest, yet it is in the archive that his faith is based upon.

Yes. Quite sure. I'm not sure a high ranking Cardinal in the Vatican can be considered a fringe nutter.

Fair point. More a high ranking nutter in their imaginary friend club?

Unfortunately there is a lot of ignorance in certain countries and humans being the horrible creatures they are will happily lie and cheat and allow others to die painfully, as long as they make money....

Actually, this does remind me of the old vicar's joke about the man sitting on the roof of his house, surrounded by floodwater and shooing rescuers away with "God will save me". Who drowns, and when he asks his God why he was not saved is told with a shrug "I sent three boats and a helicopter".

Even if they did believe that their imaginary friend would save them, why would they stop taking the medicine?

Because everything is Gods plan, and damn those scientists making these wicked, evil potions, in cohort with the devil, trying to take their souls... Or something like that.

He may have a point,I for one, struggle to pull anyone after having garlic. It puts 'em right off. I also get pretty epic wind from copious amounts of fruit, this guy is onto something I tell you.
