Hello all,
I currently use Mobil 1 15w50 motorsport, but as this is discontinued, i was looking at using the replacement Mobil 1 10w60 motorsport oil. however im not sure if i can? or if this will have some adverse effect.
the engine its going in is a supercharged A series, that produces 140bhp. so its quite high output.
any advice as to wheather i should go ahead? or find a different oil?
thanks

I'd agree with the above, some classic engines benefit from modern oils (the triumph 1500 being one) but the A series has enough difficulty keeping the oil in using thinner based oil is asking for problems.
Good quality 20/50 will do you fine.
That said if your running it through a cold winter and not doing a few long runs but doing lots of short runs a change to 10/40 will not harm it for the winter.

Worth asking Opie oils in the oil recommedation thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
