my shower is dead - its just cold - have tried cleaning the element thinghy a million times and give up i just want a new one that lasts more than a few weeks!

sooo does anyone know what shower this is? Wheres the cheapest place to get them? Screwfix seem cheap but now im confused as they offer pressure balancing ones - is the one below pressure balancing or just a normal mixer?

thanks

I'd say looking at the temp control on the right it's a thermostatic 'bar type mixer'.

Try Plumbase and ask for a Bristan Bar type thermostatic mixer.

We install them all the time, relatively good quality for a reasonable price.

That looks like it'll do the job...

Price difference is like many things.. Brand dependent. Quality of materials will obviously differ but essentially they all do the same job!

I wouldn't touch Bristan ever again, utter st. We've had the thing repaired/replaced I don't know how many times now. Freeze your tits off or burn, thermostatic my arse! (although the second one in another bathroom that hardly gets used works OK still!).

We've been through stints of having dreadful luck with Bristan, changing a tap 4 times because it wouldn't preform, but they seem to be okay for us right now.

What is the distance between pipe centres? You can get many exposed shower valves if you don't like the bar type.

Mira do a few shower valves for 110mm pipe centres with an optional adjustable kit to allow 133 - 153mm centres.
