Hi,
Want to get at the vertical (internally threaded) tube that the front bolt for attaching the splitter goes into - - for some cleanup/paint.
How can I remove the grille (Mk.1 S)? I can remove the bolts holding the splitter on, which detaches the bottom, how is it attached at the top/near the service bonnet hinge?

Upside is mounted whit two screws (one each side, allen key) at the front side. You need to remove the bonnet and the service bonnet to access the screws and remove the grill.

Cheers Ronald,
Thought I might have to remove the main bonnet.

Bit of an update:

Had a 'play' with the car yesterday.
Improved the aim of my drivers side dipped beam headlamp.
Re-routed and secured the wires to the radiator fans - originals were fretting on the main bonnet to the point where the copper core was exposed on one side. Then checked electrically by disconnecting ecu temp sensor - - good job.
Wire brushed the cross bar and vertical stud/tube for the splitter, then primed with zinc rich and top coat.
Refitted bar/grille and bonnet

Felt very smug!!
