What really are the problems and what can you do about them? What should I be aware of?

I tow a track car, spare wheels, fuel & trailer weighing approx. 2000kg in total.

When we had a Jeep Grand Cherokee it was a nightmare - wanting to almost flip over on several occasions making towing very scary. Sold it for that reason and bought a 2001 X5 4.4i Sport and towing is now a pleasure - no problems whatsoever. It will happily tow at 80mph with no drama at all.

Are you expecting a problem then?

Read that their were issues if you didn't have the upgraded BMW towing kit and that you needed a bigger oil cooler for the gearbox, extra fan etc and wondered if it was just myth or if there was any truth to it?
