I need new wheels. Both fronts have cracked, been repaired and cracked again. (thanks glasgow council for doing such a great job maintaining the roads! rolleyes )

Since the car is a 100k 8-year old Focus I don't really want to spend a fortune, but I don't want any old sh!t either. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good supplier in the Central Belt? I work in Edinburgh but live in Glasgow, so anywhere in the middle would do!

I plan to fit the existing 215/40/17 tyres which have loads of tread left, so wheels would have to take those. Wheels required are 4-stud. If I could find 2 like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130587725498?ssPageName=... then I'd be sorted, but I don't really have the time or inclination to try to win this one and then find another the same, so I think I'll have to buy a full set of something else...

TIA!!

Skidz in falkirk are quite a big shop for wheels.

used them many years ago and prices are usually good.

Other than that ebay or gumtree on the offchance you can find a set mate.

2nd for Skidz. The prices they will do packages for will be near enough what you would pay on the net. They usually get them in quite quick too.

3rd for Skidz, couldn't be beaten on price even the internet, also price matched any tyres I ever got as well.

Got my BBS CH reps from there and they were faultless. The main reason that I went to them was that they have been around for yonks, so if you did have an issue with an alloy they'll still be there should you want to go back and talk to them, won't be shutting up shop and disapearing. Great 'new' showroom as well compared to their older smaller premises, although it must be more than two years they've been in the new place.

I didnt get my new alloys from them as he put me off a bit this time.

Went in looking for 19" 5x114.3 wheels and his reply was not a good fitment so not much call for them.

Still besides the point i wanted wheels but got them from down south for a steal not even they could match smile.

Sometimes a hit and miss with them but as for prices they are good. Even my old dear bought a set of wheels for her note from them.

Many yrs ago i work for a big car shop now defunct. Our Md at the time always moaned about lack of wheel sales. At this point i showed him skidz were cheaper even when we sold them at cost skidz were still cheaper than us.
This ensued into a phonecall to many wheel makers we used asking how can a big chain not beat a small shop. Turned out wheel manufacturers where ripping off said big chain on wheels.

Went to skidz today and got myself sorted. Took a while, but that's what happens when you turn up at lunchtime on Saturday - they were bound to be busy!

Good service and good prices. Thanks again all for the suggestion.

Just need to sell the old ones on ebay now to make back some of the money I just spent!

Does anyone know of any sellers of used alloys near Edinburgh or Glasgow?

I am after a set for the winter tyres for my Volvo.

Cheers

I'd have a look on Gumtree and any volvo forums. Ebay if it's local. Just make sure you know your stud spacing (pcd) and your off set if any.

Try U Pull It in Inverkeithing or AA Autobreakers in Bellshill. Both usually have plenty stuff in, though U Pull It would be first on my list. They have several 850/S/V70's in on a regular basis so you'll be able to get a set of steels or alloys for cheap.

Cheers
