Best I've done in my 500 is 28mpg. Mind you, my average is about 15mpg but it's nice to know that for the long road trips it's actually relatively economical.

Best I've ever got is 27mpg out of my 500, mind you it was all motorway, late at night and doing about 65mph.

Usually average around 22-23 on a journey involving motorways and A/B-roads with a little spirited driving smile

Although these days im getting around 12-14 driving to work and back at rush hour which still isn't bad for such a motor!

Yep, 27-28mpg on a good run for me too - 60mph A road runs seem with the occassional higher throttle for overtake or quick return-to-speed froma roundabout. I reckon you could touch 30 if you drove those sorts of roads in a "boring" way. Usually 17mpg on commute to work as others.

I think I used most petrol after being blocked by slower drivers, then they moved over and I couldnt resist 'giving it some beans ' past them.

I appreciate the noise, so I thought they would biggrin

Not sure what I get?.. could be about that on a nice 65 MPH run.. but I never do that anyway much... what I do know is that I can empty 1/2 a tank in a mad 30 mins thrash around the local A roads!! laugh

Touring i get 31.5mpg but town driving is terrible .My speedo reads 70mph when im going 68mph so it`s more like 29mpg..I can watch the needle drop on town driving propably because its set prity rich for slow speeds to stop the shunting around 14afr..

Hi Biper..

Roughly what is the financial damage for a trip to France and back (petrol wise)?

We stayed in Monte Carlo, spending 441 euro on fuel and another 20ltr when I got back home to fill the tank back up to measure the mpg. We went this summer and I think it worked out to be about £410 with the exchange rate at the time. I also used Shell V power at every fill up.
Don't forget the tolls if you want a quick run down, add another £180 or more if my memory is correct.
We went from Portsmouth to L'Havre as we live in Waterlooville.

I would also check there isn't a 1 inch stone wedged under the loud pedal!

On a serious note, it is suprising what these cars can return. I was in Germany last year and I filled up at the start of the day. It pished down the whole day which meant sticking to 60-80mph constantly.
The result was almost 300 miles to the tank and 29mpg. I hope never to beat this statistic, I'm sure trying to set a new lowest mpg record will be a bit more fun.
