One to watch for news on, but I'm not holding much hope for it being any good.
Making films today with mass market appeal is all about dumbing down and piling on the special effects, to the detriment of story.
They could make a nice remake of it, that those of us who watched the originals will enjoy, but by 2013 I reckon there will be more people out there who've no idea what it was, so making a film that only appeals to a smaller market won't do them any favours.
I don't want to sound too cynical though, my fingers are crossed for something good!

This is (unfortunately) fairly old news - this film has been mooted for a year or 2 and has got nowhere so far, hence the "we're working very hard to..." message. There was a UFO movie first proposed in the 1990s (about the first time I got on the internet!) which gave up after a while, too.
Would be good if they can get something going again but not holding my breath. As was said, with each passing year, the audience recognising it is smaller.
