Afternoon People, how are we? So, I'm being made redundant at the end of this month and as such, with a nice little pay off, I think I'm going to treat myself to my own leaving present. Got about £500 in the budget and what with a very small collection of Raymond Weil's, Tag's, Breitling's etc, I think now is the time to purchase the final time-piece on my list that I really fancy. I don't like automatics so I thought this, is right up my street.

If anyone knows where I can beat an online price of £520, let me know before I go hunting this weekend?

Thanks, Bags.

Hi Simon, I think that's a nice looking watch. I was looking at the automatic movement version myself a few months ago and they seem to be very good value for money.

If I were you I'd go into my local dealer and see what discount they can offer you, you may be surprised.

Yea I like it, not too busy if you know what I mean, just a nice looking piece, nice colour, and a "stealth" brand. Local Mall deal in Longines as well as many other top brand names so may wander in, with eyelashes fluttering at the sales girl and see what I can get.

Bags.

Try one on before you commit; I was very taken with the looks of the Hydroconquest but disappointed with how it wears (a bit too lightweight and the bracelet felt flimsy - but then I do normally wear a Planet Ocean).

Weight doesn't really bother me as I'm very slight of wrist so couldn't handle anything too heavy in any case. I'll certainly try on when or if I see one.

You are joking ! Had mine 18 months. My auto is heavy and the strap is bomb proof and as for accuracy, certainly within the chronometer test tolerance...

Agreed. Tried my 41mm Hydroconquest auto side-by-side with my brother's SMP auto. There was nothing in it weight-wise, and I wouldn't exactly describe the Longines bracelet as 'flimsy'. The Seamaster didn't look or feel like it was worth 3 times the cost of the Longines, although the SMP is still a great watch.

Had mine for what is coming up to two years now, but with the black rather than blue.

Wear it all the time, still love it's looks, never missed a beat and agreed with the comment about it feeling solid & having a decent weight.

I recommend.

I also recommend Dom H who sourced mine for me.

I have the black model, its feels nice and weighty on, very much the same as a Sub and the bracelet is excellent, it is certainly better than a Rolex Sea dweller bracelet, now they are pants. Ive had it nearly twelve months now and wear it every day on a heavy construction site in the tropics, (heat and humidity), its perfect and never let me down once. Its the auto model and managed to get it for 600gbp knocked down from an advertised 720gbp, in Norwich UK.

Thanks for all the guidance and reviews/experience of your Longines(s?), really helpful.

Got the day off tomorrow so might go hunting and then probably come back and contact someone like Dominic (if you're reading this Dominic is that ok?).

Cheers, Bags.
