Just looking at these on Ebay and they seem to be around for a grand or so for a 20 Valve Turbo, seems like a quite a special car for the money, not sure whether they will ever be worth a great deal but I they do seem very cheap these days.

They are amazingly fast for the money as well.

Will require a lot of maintenance?

Motormech in Birmingham is not too far away and they love em. Used to get my alfas serviced there.

Isnt it an Alfa GTV with a lesser badge for the same money.

Always thought it a good looking car, most seem to be molested by now though

I've never seen one for sale that didn't either need work, or hadn't recently had lots of work done.

Great car for the money, i love mine. Dont be scared off by internet folklore, a full belt change cost me £400 servicing has been diy and its been faultless in the 1.5 years that I've owned it. Fine and quick, the brembo brakes are great, handling is good and the noise it makes in the top end of the rev range is glorious!

Oh, and torque steer is virtually non existent thanks to the viscodrive lsd unit. Also, it was the most powerful fwd production car for quite a few years and still holds its own against modern metal.

I've often been tempted by one of these, but couldn't ever find a wheel style that really suited the car.

I think the fact that theres loads in classifieds that have over 100k on the clock and still going.

If my wife wouldnt kill me I'd get one. Bang for buck you can get a plus for say £3k or modify a 20v turbo for as little as £1500

Because of the cheap value they are selling from, a lot of chavs have bought them, as such there are a lot of neglected models on the market. Expect to pay 3-4K for a decent example.

The fiat can seat four adults and has a proper boot, which gives it a fairly sizeable advantage over the GTV.

The Corrado and Integra drive better than both, though. Mind you, they cost more too.

Total bks. Maybe I've been lucky but I've had one for two and a half years and it's never let me down. It's pumped up to 280bhp as well so it's not even standard.

Typical bks spoken by someone who's never owned one. Ever driven one even?

OP, try one. I'm sure it'll do you well but please spend more than 1k on one. A shed money Coupe will put you off for life so spend a minimum of 2k IMO. Do a search for topics discussed in GG and the Fiat, Alfa and Lancia forum for lots of useful information. FCCUK is the owners forum and its a superb resource with a brilliant buyers guide. Do plenty of research before buying and search long and hard for the right one. A Fiat Coupe LE and Plus are the most sought after models in the 20v range but expect to pay a premium for these.

Good luck.

Yeh but the OP is talking about buying in at £1k, you can't just double the budget!

These are fairly quick, I used to enjoy having a play with them back in the day when I had the old Leon Cupra R. Evenly matched at the time.

You dont get much for £1k but £2k will get a decent example £3k a superb example.

They are an undervalued car, maybe thats due to the sort of ill-informed crap people write about them on forums without having even driven one?

If you find a well looked after one they are nice to drive, quick, good mpg on the motorway due to high gearing. Didnt find the ones I had to be very sporty to drive as very little feel through the steering or brakes but they do go well and have lots of grip.

For such a small amount of money they are an interesting car, with a unique interior, lovely sounding 5 cyl engine and quite practical.

I was offered a swap with a very nice turbo plus in that gorgeous silvery blue colour and anthracite 4 spokes... 300bhp too.

I just couldn't get past the looks. From some angles I think it looks great, but from others I think it's hideous.

The 16v turbo isn't to be over looked either if you like the looks!!

It was powerful, fairly light and that made it fairly quick. Not sure it was ever the most powerful fwd production car though.

Had a Bravo HGT (N/A 2L 5cyl) and always wanted to make the step up to a Turbo Coupe, instead I went for a Mk4 Golf 1.8T, what a mistake that was!

The Golf was an unrealiable POS, would have been better off with the Fiat I reckon.

I personally love the exterior styling, not so keen on the coloured dash, but could live with it for the pace and 5cyl warble.
