Why don't the travellers just buy a caravan site instead of

Beacuse they'd run into almost identical planing issues as they did at Dale Farm. Most caravan sites do not allow permanent residency.Apart from the 50X different in land cost...
Maybe the solution is to buy groups of caravan sites so they can -
a) travel between the sites when they want to - upholding their travelling culture
b) fulfill the legal requirement of not having to stay in one site on a permanent basis
Or are they just too argumentative and anti--establishment to consider this as an option

I would love to meet a 'real' traveller. But unfortunately over the decades of running a retail business I have only ever met the ones that try to steel anything they can, and have cost me thousands of pounds. I particularly like the women who bring their kids in to the shop to teach them to steal. Heaven help you if you catch one at it, as you will have a shop full of very angry Irish accented travellers all threatening to burn the place down. So please point out a proper traveller that earns an honest living and pays taxes as I would love to meet them.
I for one am loving watching them loose their possessions. What goes around, comes around.

They own most of the caravan parks and Penrith.
Mentioned earlier that I was having a drink and chat with Candy and her husband Andy, likeable people. Candy is the Vice President on the Gypsy Council and active in the community. Noticed that David Essex sat on the fence over the Dale Farm issue, knows where his bread is buttered. Makes me laugh when some here speak as though the 'true Gypsies' are a separate tribe to 'Travellers'somehow. Do you really believe that inter marriages have not occurred over the decades? Of course you can find 100% Gypsy blood, but its like black people marry white people, have kids and, well you get the idea.
Questions remain where the evicted people will settle next.

Does anyone KNOW how they go about registering their vehicles and insuring them - they have tax on them?

So would it be safe to assume you haven't got a clue but felt you should post something anyway
