Boardwalk Empire

Is it 'that' good?

I've only seen one, Steve Beu... however it's spelt meeting a former soldier with a prostecic face, who he befreinds and gets a brass to make a bit of a fuss of him. The former Soldier in return shoots someone in a sniper type fashion.

I enjoyed it, sort of, but I was totally lost on the plot and who everyone one was. That's no problem, I've after something to fill the wire void as we've just finshed watching it for the second time and don't want something spoon fed to me every week.

Is it worth picking up the series 1 boxset (assume it's available) and getting through them ready to pick up series 2 on Sky?

FYI, Lovefilm tell me the series 1 boxset is available from early Jan next year.

I would say yes. I don't normally like US based 'period' dramas too much, but this one is sublime - from the acting to the sets. It is a slow burner, but utterly riveting.
I shall certainly buy the box sets as and when they become available.
