After some advice on best way to incorporate the roll cage, when trimming the interior of the GTR.

Ideally I would like to basically hide the roll cage, by making it look like it's integral to the bodywork (eg. no gaps between bodywork & rollcage). I've seen this done to different levels of success on some cars, so would appreciate any advice from those who have done this with their cars & any tricks of the trade to achieve a decent finish.

Cheers Dave

Would not suggest joining the cage to the windscreen frame as they move and you might damage the body or worse crack the glass...

Ah good point. Assume some form of flexible covering between would work OK. Have seen just roof lining stretched between cage & windscreen cage, but was looking for something more substantial, but obviously needs to be flexible from your point above. Hmmmmm

Whatever you use I would include padding on the cage between Driver and Passenger.
At 5'8" I am in no way the tallest of drivers. On track with a helmet and tightly strapped in there is no way I could get close to the cage. However during a fairly light side impact it is surprising just how much things move around and I hit my helmet on the bar to the side of my head. I had a headache for a while but the helmet did its job. Anyone taller is likely to have the same problem without a helmet.

Well at 6ft I only just miss the dividing bars.... with a helmet , no chance.

I am glad I am a Short-Arse!

Tango! Not only do I have my nice aluminium tool cabinet, but I have a power-rip-saw in one of the drawers, so you could always come back for a visit and I can adjust your legs for you? Free?
Bit radical, I know, but I am good at mods!

LOL. Keith you won't stop at 1 mod though. Before I know it I would have part of skull removed for easy access to brain wink

What nights you free next week ? I'll bring Sone & Speedster356 down for a beer in your local, then we can look at your car & find a few other things for you to modify wink You know you'll be last on the road at this rate

I've got a trimmer coming round tomorrow to look at covering the roll bar. He's mobile, will ask how far he's prepared to travel and let you know.

Now that sounds like a plan!

deadscoop..tell them to visit me before Dave, cos I have the choccy biskwits!

Hee-hee!

Dave - as you know Steve lit up the village today with his GTR - I had to laugh..a lot of the village are stuck-up 'close-to-pensioners ex bank manglers' so all the window curtains were twitching... I can see/hear it now...

" Ohhh! Ethel..did you see that! Terrible, just terrible.. that noisy racey thing!"

Sounds like a pub night is a good idea, but it might have to wait a few weeks as I have a business trip to get ready for (long hrs) to a conference in the US - hate Washington - bah humbug... I also hate Xmas as well!

wink
