Sony DSC-F828 just got one..
Discussion
Hi I bought this nice bit of kit to take hi res pics of my art work for future reference and was looking at getting some optional acessories. Can anyone recommend what to get and what not to get?
Things spring to mind:
Close-up lense - is it worth it?
Type of Flash?
Flash cards for storage are cheaper to buy but are they any good?
Sony memory stick which one for everyday shooting of large pics and small movies?
Cheer everyone

I've got a 707, which I think is basically what the 828 has evolved from over the last few generations. Out of the box it does close-ups very well. Mine's got a neutral filter on, just to protect the lens itself from damage and/or finger prints, and it can focus on dust on the surface of the filter, so I'd be surprised if you needed any more than that!
Ive got the 717 which is between the 828 and 707. I agree with chris, the close up photos from the zeiss lens are pretty good:
Ive got a skylight filter too to protect mine and an xs drive so i didnt spend a fortune on memory sticks.
Ill be interested to see the quality of the new model to see how it compares. Please post some of your work!

Hi there, so I need to get a protective lens filter to save the lens, will look into that. And am looking at what size flash card. Dandisk or Kingston brand cards are selling very cheap here. Wondered if they are any good?
Will promise to post some pics when I can take some decent images.
Thanks,
Kylie

My 707 is Memory stick only, so I can't really comment on the merits of CF (it's definately cheaper, but I dunno about performance differences - look up the unbelievably comprehensive review of your camera on www.dpreview.com - they might compare the card formats there).
One option to consider though is to go for one medium sized memory card and an xs-drive (or equivalent) - basically a laptop hard-disk in a battery powered card reader. Fill up the memory card, transfer to hard-disk, repeat. Ideal for long periods away from a computer. 20GB @ 4MB per picture = 5000 pictures (which would be a small fortune in memory cards!)
