I own some shares in a PLC that was bought out last year. I have received a letter from an outfit offering to very kindly swap my share cerificate for £sterling, charging 12.5% Comm.
Is this reasonable? or should I contact the registrars of the company that acquired the PLC.

Thank you

If you dont have the paper certificate request a replacement from the registrar, it'll cost you up to £15 to sell them. 12.5% is very very very expensive.

As with everything beware anyone who contacts you direct, do proper research before you commit to anything.

Fortunately I have the paper certificate (The wife does have her uses!)
Surprise Surprise the outfit offering the 12.5% deal is directly related too the Registrars. Georgesons - Computershare
Where can I sell them for £15 or anywhere else as the company no longer exists and I guess is not traded on the stock exchange?

When the plc was bought out did you not have the old shares bought from you?, or exchanged for new shares in the new company ?.

Which plc was it?

No communication what so ever, Georgesons are saying it is because the registrars had my old address, which changed in 2001 (I have received dividends at my new address in previous years).
So to resolve the situation Georgesons have very kindly traced me and they are offering me the price that RB paid for SSl Int last year, less 12.5% Comm.
