Final Race, can we win Class A of Eurosaloon & Sports GT

Well we were leading Class A in Eurosaloon and Sports GT!! But a massive off in the first race at Snetterton 5 weeks ago wiped out two races, the cause was the pads supplied needed to be filed down by 1.5 mm, instead they heated up, jammed on, vaporised the system and let me go at about 110 mph across the track and hit the Armco backward at about 40 mph!!!
Well we are fixed, a lot of battleship grey around the back and a newish rear end but we are out at Silverstone on Saturday, qualifying at 9.30. racing at noon!!
We have to be three places ahead of the leading Impreza to get the number one spot back!! Basically we need a top three finish!!!! Pressure on!!
What have we done!! Rebuilt the rear end, new box and diff, sorted the brakes, straightend a few bits, welded a few bits, new exhaust system from front to back from rewelded manifolds to the rest!! Cats are out, big middle box and massive rear repackables!! Sounds deep and sharp!! Must have added horses! it sounds soooo good!!
30 car grid, should be fun! on the International Circuit in rhe new pits!

I'm supposed to be having a baby (week overdue now) otherwise I'd be along!!!

It was a day of highs and lows!!
We had the McLaren Pits for the Inaugral International Circuit Race, first race to use it after the GrandPrix!! Had our briefing in the F1 briefing room, pretty cool!!
Had to come in during qualifying as the pads were locking on again!! Which meant that we qualified 18th out of 28 runners, but still within sight of the Group A cars!! Dave fortunately brought a belt sander and we took off another 1mm off the outer pads and 2mm off the inners which were previously untouched plus we took the edges off each end, we had to have them rattling around to be happy this time.
Start of the race was good but tyres were cold (really should have had two warm up laps with all the power we are all running), I held 18th around the wiggly bits after the rolling start and took 4 cars down Hangar to then have a Seat BTCC car spin in front of me coming through the bend, he went off one side carried on spinning, came back across the track and then came to rest in front of me! I had to brake very heavily and the tightly packed field came through on my left!! Got going again but now 25th!!!!
Worked hard through the field, the brakes took some bedding in, and could have done without the early heavy incident, but my confidence was on the up and we worked all the way through to the back of the Class A race, so my average lap times were pulling me up the grid!! Came up behind Ian Roberts, the Class leader and easily passed him, three laps later passed him again, he had something wrong, and knowing my woes was just keeping it going to get the points hoping that I didn't pass another four Class A cars!
Anyway, we couldn't quiet do enough!! I had three Class A cars, the Marcos, Ginetta and Subaru in my sights on Hangar for the last three laps but couldn't get close enough to get passed!! So finished 10th, subsequently 9th after Keith Butcher's penalty time of 50 seconds for two 4 wheels off.
By a quick reckoning we are second by just 6 points on count back!!
Exciting race and car ran brilliantly!! Thanks Dave Jenkins!!!
