sky remote not working

Thought it was just the batteries, changed 'em and no response at all. The red light on the remote flashes when a button's pressed but no acknowledgement on the box.Done the power off/on thing. It's starting to get annoying getting up and pressing the buttons on the sky box, it's like going back to the 70's before remotes were around. Any usefull tips appreciated.

Have you tried pressing the SKY button first ?

use a broomstick with a nail taped on the end to press the buttons.

Have you unplugged from the mains and the reconnected.

Mine does this every few months and unplugging it always sorts it out.

Leave it unplugged at least two minutes.
